The chopsticks have a small switch on the handle that can be used to switch the light on or off permanently. For the surprise effect, you can only see that you have two miniature Yoda-type lightsabers in your hand when the light is on. Provided you hide the handle ;)
Incidentally, using lightsabers for eating also has a practical side effect. The light is focused at the tip so that you can spotlight your food. A cleaning tip: Remove the saber from the handle before cleaning, as the handle should not get wet to be on the safe side. With a soft sponge and mild detergent, the power tool will quickly regain its original shine.
